D&D: The March In The Sands
Insperation – When a player Roleplays a scene particularly well or does something to appease the DM Gods they are awarded 1 Insperation. An insperation allows a re-roll on any roll. Insperation only has a single use and a player can have no more than 1 insperation stored at all times. Insperation also lasts across sessions.
Leveling Up – When a player levels up they are allowed to do so as normal, however, until they have a Long Rest they will be rolling disadvantage on rolls that involve that abilitie. E.g A sorcerer attempts to cast “Spell” but due to being un-trained and merely experimenting with the idea struggle with controling it.
This is to give a more realistic feel to leveling and add context rather than “the video game” effect of suddenly having skills without any backstory. With a long rest a sorcerer could take time to experiement with spells, a warrior could train a certain manouvre, a paladin may take time to pray or seek blessing.
